The “20 in 09” exhibition will showcase a variety of works including photography, illustration, painting, Web design, graphic and package design, and drawing. The students are responsible for designing and executing the exhibit, exhibition announcements and an accompanying catalogue. Press materials will be available at the exhibition and students will have an opportunity to meet with potential clients and employers during the show in an effort to promote their design skills and acquire jobs in the field.

All 20 students who are participating in the exhibit are graduating from the bachelor of fine arts program with an emphasis in graphic design, a program that prepares students for careers or graduate work in the field of graphic design including illustration, Web/electronic design and photography. Students prepare skills for professional practice by integrating the content areas of design theory, production, history, criticism and aesthetics. Coursework provides a foundation in creativity, critical thinking and problem analysis.

According to Nodine, the curriculum integrates traditional art techniques with industry standards of digital technology and emphasizes experiential learning through real-world internships. “Graduates of the BFA program are employed in creative departments of corporations, retail establishments, advertising/design firms, publishing and public relations firms.”
